President's Message

I don’t know about you, but I really can’t believe it’s already March! I can hear my dad’s voice echoing in my head, “the older you get, the faster they go...”

I was glad to have the chance to host our first meeting of the year at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. I know we really only skimmed the surface talking about virtual currencies, which continue to be such a hot topic in payments and elsewhere, but I was glad to give the majority of our time together to Preston Ash to discuss the evolving world of financial technology in “Fintech Frenzy.”

In keeping with the theme of timely topics, our March meeting will take a look at the impact of recent tax reform on businesses. I can’t wait to hear what our guest speakers have to say!

By the time you read this, we will also have had what has become an annual tradition of sorts for Dallas AFP, volunteering at the North Texas Food Bank on Saturday, March 3. I always enjoy the chance to feel like I am making a difference, and to network with fellow DAFP members. If you weren’t able to make it, I encourage you to try to join us for our next volunteer opportunity!

March Monthly Meeting

The Impact of the Tax Act on Businesses

Join us for our March dinner meeting to hear an interactive timely discussion regarding the Impact the Tax Cut and Jobs Act (TCJA).
Our panel will consist of tax and business planning experts from Armanino, LLP, who will discuss the effect the TCJA will have on multiple business functions and treasury decisions.
They will also share some actionable advice on both income and tax accounting for both domestic and foreign companies.

We are excited to host our March dinner meeting at a new venue, Marriott Quorum by the Galleria. I am interested to hear our members feedback regarding this new site. So please join us and be sure to share your feedback with me after the meeting. The Marriott does charge for parking, however DAFP will cover the cost. Look for information regarding parking in your confirmation email.

Community Involvement Event

On Saturday, March 3rd, the Community Involvement Committee held it's first Networking Community Involvement event at the North Texas Food Bank (NTFB). I would like to give a special thanks to Ana, Cheryl, Lori, Kathleen, Archie, James, Mark, Matt, Richard and their family members for volunteering at this event. Our group was presented with the task of placing 5 pounds of uniquely shaped carrots in mesh bags. Together, we filled approximately 1000 bags of carrots. This act of kindness will help the NTFB to provide a nutritional food item to families in Dallas.




Our next networking community Involvement event will be held on Saturday, May 5th.

The Art of the Calendar!
Yikes! We’re about a month away from TEXPO 2018!!! April 8 – 10. Have you registered? Have you made your hotel reservations? Have you signed up for TopGolf? Have you picked out your black and white clothing for Monday night’s party? We’re looking forward to an amazing event. The Art of Networking!
If you haven’t already, sign-up today for TopGolf. It’s going to be a great inaugural event that we’ll play rain or shine under a protective cover. The play format allows you to come and go if you want during the 3-hour event. Lunch and refreshments are included. Registration at TEXPO is not required to participate in the TopGolf Open. Invite your spouse, a client, a traveling companion, or a friend to join you! www.texpoconference.org
Our Sunday night welcome reception and Monday night party are going to be amazing!

  • Sunday Night – Art Among the Stars – reception on the 38th floor of the Sheraton Hotel.
  • Monday Night – a pARTy in black and white – attendees are encouraged to wear black and white clothing and enter a speakeasy of music and fun.

Happy 2018!

It’s a new year and we are excited because a lot of great things are happening for our organization. TEXPO is in Dallas and we are the sponsors, yeah! We have newly licensed CTPs and FP&As becoming members of our organization and interesting speakers are slated for our dinner meetings. Have you renewed your membership this year? You don’t want to miss out by not renewing.
