President's Message

Happy Spring, DAFP Members!

TEXPO® 2018 is nearly here and, with Dallas AFP as the host and Stacy Roth at the head of a volunteer army pulling it all together, it is certain to be an unforgettable conference. I look forward to seeing many of you at the TEXPO® 2018 TopGolf Open on Sunday, April 8, and then at the Sheraton Dallas Downtown for the rest of the conference (and the Sunday night and Monday night parties, of course!).

As you know, the proceeds from TEXPO allow Dallas AFP to operate “in the red” for four years and refresh our coffers every fifth year, and to keep our membership dues low while allowing DAFP to provide top-notch programs including our signature one-day Big D Financial conference in the Fall. So, please do all you can to promote the conference among your colleagues and on social media!

Once the excitement of TEXPO subsides, we’ll be bringing you information about the Big D Financial Conference. In the meantime, mark your calendars for September 20, 2018, at the Marriott Las Colinas, and start thinking about recruiting your organization to sponsor the conference, or how you can be involved as a volunteer!

Financially yours,

- Matt D.

The Art of the Calendar!
It’s here!!! Every five years the Dallas AFP hosts TEXPO – the largest regional treasury and finance education conference in the nation. Proceeds from TEXPO help to fund the DAFP operating budget.

From April 8 through April 10, we will welcome about 1,200 people to the downtown Sheraton for 2 ½ days of education, networking, exhibit reviews and, oh yes, parties! We hope you’re planning to come and if you haven’t yet registered there’s still time…. Just go to www.texpoconference.org. Don’t forget to also sign up for the inaugural TopGolf TEXPO Open to kick off Sunday morning, April 8, activities.

The Art of the Website and the App!
Check out our website, www.texpoconference.org , for a listing of our education offerings for TEXPO 2018. You’ll find

  • five breakfast roundtables,
  • three keynote speakers,
  • 55+ concurrent education sessions, including an Executive Track, and
  • 16 CTP and FP&A review sessions, including practice exams

Download the TXPO 2018 App so you can have this information at your fingertips before and during the conference.

Send any questions to texpo@DallasAFP.org.

The Art of the Agenda!
We are excited to welcome Charlotte Jones Anderson with the Dallas Cowboys as she speaks about The Power of the Brand over Monday lunch. Andrew Urich with Oklahoma State University will bring an awareness of business ethics following breakfast on Monday. And, Tuesday over lunch, we’ll hear from Kevin McCarthy as he introduces us to The Blindspot Zone.

It is also our pleasure to welcome AFP’s CTC (Corporate Treasury Council) for their quarterly meeting which they’re holding at TEXPO. Corporate practitioners holding the titles of Director, Assistant Treasurer, Treasurer or above are eligible to attend.

The Art of Volunteering!
We still have plenty of space for volunteers. Send your interest to texpo@DallasAFP.org.

More Development in N Texas and Impact of Transportation Projects

Thursday, April 19, 11:30-1:00

In addition, an NTTA director of Government Affairs will share results of an economic impact study that models the land use and business impact of transportation projects.

Dallas AFP Sponsorship

How are YOU supporting your AFP?
Sponsorship is the act of supporting an organization through different provisions. So, again, I ask, how are YOU supporting your DAFP? Help support your Dallas AFP by engaging local and national companies to become a sponsor. The commitment form, found here, outlines the different opportunities. Feel free to direct any potential sponsors to the Sponsorship Committee, at sponsorship@DallasAFP.org. Or be totally awesome, and begin the dialogue between the Sponsorship Committee and the potential sponsor!

Take 10 seconds!!!
Want an easy way to support the Dallas AFP? I challenge each member to submit at least one, if not more, contact that represents an organization that would be a great sponsorship partner! Submit to sponsorship@DallasAFP.org, and we’ll be eager to reach out to them.

What’s that feeling?
That feeling is likely a longing to become more involved in the Dallas AFP, in the most awesome way! Join the Sponsorship Committee, we will work together to partner with companies and individuals to further grow our organization. For more information and to get involved contact Connor Cosgrove at sponsorship@DallasAFP.org

With much appreciation,

- Connor C.
