President's Message

Happy Summer, Dallas AFP Members! I hope you all enjoyed a relaxing Memorial Day holiday weekend. I’m already thinking about the fall and winter, and not just because I’m already over the heat.

First, this fall… We have kicked things into high gear for preparations for our annual one-day Big D Financial Conference, Thursday, September 20, at the Marriott Las Colinas. Mark your calendars, and see below for important announcements from this year’s conference chair, Kari Ellis!

Second, this winter… My term as President of the association will come to an end in December of this year. The Nominating Committee is now accepting your recommendations for our association’s next President, for the 2019 and 2020 calendar years. Please send your nominations to me at president@dallasafp.org by June 30. Minimum qualifications for the office of President are: at least two (2) consecutive years of DAFP membership and at least one (1) year of DAFP board service as an officer. The CTP (or CCM) designation is preferred, but not required. We will publish the results of the Nominating Committee’s deliberations in the July newsletter and on our various social media platforms. Stay tuned for more!

2018 BIG D

Get your Speaker/Presentation proposals in TODAY!
We are now accepting proposals for breakout session presentations and Keynote speakers at our annual Big D Financial Conference, September 20, 2018, at the Marriott, Las Colinas!

Attendance at this annual event increases every year; last year there were approximately 250 attendees. Previous attendees have indicated a desire for opportunities to glean ideas and information from practitioners during this event, so we are looking for interactive, highly-engaging and informative programs. Co-presenters and panel discussions, including corporate practitioners, are strongly encouraged, and given preference when finalizing speaker acceptances. Proposals indicating a “TBD” for co-speaker will be given conditional acceptance pending the naming of a co-speaker.

Please contact Kari Ellis at BigDConference@DallasAFP.org to get the Speaker Proposal Form, and submit your proposals by June 15, 2018. Proposals will be reviewed, and speakers notified of their selection, by July 15, 2018.

Community Involvement Event

On Saturday, May 5, the Community Involvement Committee held its second Networking Community Involvement event with Head for the Cure.

I would like to give a special thanks to Cheryl, Matt, Karyn and Synthia for volunteering at this event.

Hello DAFP: We have created a DAFP Members and Friends Group on Facebook. You are our friends! Please join the group by visiting the @DallasAFP Facebook page, then click on Groups. Then click on DAFP Members and Friends. Request to join. We will accept you. Our Facebook Group allows us to quickly invite you to programs and events = and will help us to increase engagement because you can quickly and easily LIKE, SHARE or COMMENT on the event – and/allow you to express your interest in attending. Of course, you still have to register through the website, but this is another way to increase the community spirit and engagement of our close-knit group.
